Insight Communications and ESPN Mark Successful Completion of Local Technology Education Partnership

New York – April 11, 2002

Insight Communications and ESPN announced the completion of their local "In the Know" educational partnership this afternoon at the Wilson Boys & Girls Club in Anderson. Indiana Pacers Center Brad Miller joined officials from Insight, ESPN, and the Boys & Girls Club, as well as the participating students, to mark the program's success.

The educational program was designed to help bridge the "digital divide" through the robust resources of the cable industry. As Insight has done on an ongoing basis with its "In the Know" public affairs program in accredited schools and public libraries, the local cable operator provided free high-speed Internet access through its cable modem product, Insight Broadband, to the Boys & Girls Club. ESPN developed an extensive online curriculum, hosted on their website, which taught participating students about online research and technology through the "March Madness" theme of the NCAA tournament. During the four-week after-school program, 30 students from various local schools participated in the program, which was created exclusively for the Anderson area.

In addition to the educational component of the program, students were also treated to an evening at Conseco Fieldhouse for a Pacers game, hosted in the corporate boxes of Insight and Delco Remy. At this afternoon¹s reception, Pacers Center Brad Miller spoke to the students about the importance of education in achieving goals; he also handed out the certificates of completion to the students and spent some time addressing their questions.

"We are thrilled to have partnered with ESPN to offer this program to local students," said David Servies, Insight¹s Senior Vice President, Indiana Operations. "The broadband resources of cable¹s infrastructure provide a wonderful opportunity to learn about advanced technology. "

"ESPN is committed to bringing educational initiatives into local communities, " said E.J. Conlin, vice president of affiliate marketing, ESPN. "In partnering with Insight, we have brought a win-win program to a great sports community."
