Insight Communications Surpasses 100,000 Digital Subscribers

New York – January 10, 2001

Insight Communications (Nasdaq: ICCI) announced today that it has installed over 100,000 digital customers throughout its Midwest footprint. Furthermore, the company announced that the cornerstone services of its interactive digital product, specifically the rich interactive program guide and LocalSource, have been made available to 730,000 customers, a five-fold increase since the end of the third quarter of 2000.

“Concurrent with the completion of our aggressive rebuild schedule, we have accomplished our goal of launching our signature interactive digital product, Insight Digital,” said Michael S. Willner, President and CEO of Insight Communications. “The response has been overwhelming, with our weekly net connects in the fourth quarter equal to that achieved on a monthly basis in the third quarter.”

“In addition to the overwhelming reception from new customers, we’ve been extremely pleased with the results of migrating inherited digital systems to Insight Digital with a vast majority upgrading to higher levels of services, thereby increasing overall revenue per subscriber,” added Kim D. Kelly, Insight’s Executive Vice President, Chief Operating and Financial Officer. “We plan on adding access to video-on-demand during the first half of 2001 to the rest of our footprint, thereby delivering further value-added services to our customers and achieving even higher revenues per customer.”

Insight’s interactive digital product, when fully launched, includes LocalSource, a rich community-oriented news and information guide; SourceGuide, an interactive program guide; and video-on-demand, which includes 500 movie titles from which customers can choose. The full interactive digital service has been available to Insight’s customers in Rockford, Illinois; Columbus, Ohio; and Evansville, Indiana for over a year. The company indicated that the full service will be rolled out throughout the rest of its Midwest footprint in the first half of 2001.

Insight Communications (NASDAQ: ICCI) is the 8th largest cable operator in the United States, serving approximately 1.4 million subscribers. The company is highly concentrated in the four contiguous states of Illinois, Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio. Insight specializes in offering state-of-the-art technology in mid-sized communities, delivering analog and digital video, high-speed data and, in the near future, voice telephony to its customers.
